Nominator's project description

Professor Sarantsev has made appreciable contributions to the development of a relativistically invariant approach to the analysis of composite systems. This method, based on the analyticity and unitarily properties of the scattering amplitude, was successfully applied by him to the analysis of meson production data obtained by the Crystal Barrel collaboration at LEAR (CERN) on proton-antiproton annihilation at rest. As a result, a set of meson resonances has been discovered. Further he performed a combined analysis of the related data obtained from different experiments, which led to a clarification of the hadron spectrum in the mass region below 1.7 GeV. A new classification scheme has been put forward. During the last years Professor Sarantsev has been involved as a leader of PNPI group in the analysis of the Crystal Barrel data from antiproton-proton annihilation in flight. This analysis led to the discovery of a large number of meson resonances and revealed the linearity of meson trajectories at high energies. In Germany he is going to analyze data from Crystal Barrel experiments.
